LEGACY FX: THE 3D PRINTING WORKFLOW BEHIND PACIFIC RIM

1:45 pm - 2:30 pm

Description:

THE 3D PRINTING WORKFLOW BEHIND PACIFIC RIM

Legacy Effects are one of Hollywood's top visual effects studios. Using 3D printing to streamline their workflows, they have become the first choice for many filmmakers, creating pieces for Iron Man I/II/III, The Avengers, Pacific Rim, Avatar, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Amazing Spiderman and many more. Lead systems engineer Jason Lopes will discuss how utilising a range of 3D printing technologies, they've developed a system of round-the-clock printing, giving them the edge on many competitors to create better pieces in less time, allowing many layers of revision in a much shorter space of time.

Speaker: Jason Lopes

Jason Lopes is the lead systems engineer with Legacy Effects, a special effects company working on some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of all time. His history of managing render farms and complex digital workflows allowed him to revolutionise Stan Winston Studios, implementing a schedule of 24/7 3D printing across six different machines. Controlling a consistent printflow as well as creating some of the most iconic movie pieces has made him a highly acclaimed 3D printing expert the world over.
